Our Client located near Airport in Mississauga is looking for a HR Generalist to join their HR Team. This is a On-site and a Permanent role.
The HR Generalist performs on-site HR support to the business. While this person works as part of the
HR team, they provide support to local management as the only on-site HR representative. The position
encompasses all aspects of HR including recruiting and onboarding, administration, HRIS and payroll
system data management, training, compensation and benefits, performance management, disability
management, Worker’s Compensation, metrics, employee relations, policies, etc. for both employees
and owner operators.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and conduct recruitment processes, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and selection.
- Manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition and positive experience.
- Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Conduct investigations and assist in resolving employee relations issues.
- Promote a positive work environment and culture.
- Assist in the development and implementation of performance management processes.
- Support managers in conducting performance appraisals and provide guidance on performance improvement plans, coaching and warning letters, and employment terminations as required.
- Identify training needs and coordinate the delivery of training programs.
- Support the development and implementation of employee development programs.
- Assist in the administration of compensation and benefits programs.
- Provide information to employees about benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
- May compile and analyze HR metrics and provide reports to management.
- Utilize HRIS systems to manage and report on HR data.
- Create and maintain accurate employee and owner operator files, both paper and electronic, using designated file structure and ensuring all changes are documented.
- Provide employment confirmation letters and perform other administrative duties related to human resources.
- Off-boarding employees, including conducting exit interviews.
- Provide guidance and support to the business, ensuring that the Company is legally-compliant Includes advising managers on risks and options available.
- Keeps up-to-date on new employment laws and trends, and educates the business accordingly.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR projects and initiatives.
- Assist with the continued utilization of Ceridian Dayforce.
- Support the HR department in various tasks as needed.
- Make recommendations for continuous improvements.
- Travels to other terminals as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, within a federally-regulated transportation company, preferably with multiple locations.
- Ability to maintain positive and professional relationships, and build a strong rapport with local management.
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and federal employment laws.
- Must be flexible, with a sense of urgency and ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (preferably Dayforce)
- Completely computer-literate, with strong excel skills and experience with MS Office Suite including PowerPoint.
- HR designation is preferred.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
- Motivated individual with proven initiative.
