Our Client in Toronto is currently seeking a Employee and Labour Relations Consultant, you will be working in a high volume, fast-paced and with a collaborative team of professionals who provide a variety of labour and employment related services to management in a largely unionized environment.
You Must have experience working in a Labour Relations environment. This is a Remote role and you must be located in Ontario.
You will report to the Director of Labour Relations.
Responsibilities:
- Apply strong understanding of the Collective Agreement, Employment Standards, and Human Rights legislation to provide clients with strategic labour relations advice and training on a wide range of employment related matters, including policy infractions, attendance management, and performance management.
- Manage and conduct workplace investigations related to policy infractions and provide advice to management which considers and balances risk and outcomes.
- Develop and lead strategies related to grievance disputes and facilitate dispute resolution from complaint to conclusion, including representing the company’s interests at the Grievance Settlement Board and the negotiation of grievance settlements.
- Develop strong and effective relationships with line of business, ensuring a deep understanding of the Company’s core work through inclusivity, consultation, open communication, and collaboration.
- Help to drive labour relations strategy related to grievance management, arbitration, and union relationship management.
- Collaborate with peers in the People Cluster in the development, design and implementation of HR policy, guidelines, processes and programs to ensure changes are legislatively sound, meet the needs of the lines of business and are in line with labour relations strategy.
- Participate in projects or committees which may include management, union and other representatives from across the organization relating to HR and organizational initiatives.
- Assist with preparation for Collective Bargaining.
Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in employee and labour relations.
- Post-secondary education specializing in the Human Resources Management field.
- Proven experience and strong understanding of labour relations principals to manage grievances and provide strategic advice to management.
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
- Thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution training (ADR) and CHRP are assets.
