This is a Remote role (Twice a month in the office) and you must be located in Ontario.
You will report to the Vice President of Employee and Labour Relations Consultant.
You will plan, direct, lead and manage the overall development, delivery and measurement of services provided by the Labour and Employee Relations Branch. Responsible for ensuring Labour Relations strategy is developed, delivered, and aligned to the objectives and goals of the People Plan and Strategic Plan.
Provide expert advice, consultation, and strategic direction to the business and senior management on Employee and Labour relations, collective agreement interpretation, regulations and law, and human resources policy and programs. Provide recommendations and direction on critical business decisions that impact the management of people. Participate and act as a spokesperson in both joint and management committees relating to the development/preparation of management’s position on a wide variety of collective agreement items before and during contract negotiations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Employee and Labour Relations Strategy, Providing Advice and Deliver Results.
- Plan and develop corporate employee and labour relations strategy and provide expert advice, consultation, and strategic direction to the business and senior management on labour relations, collective agreement interpretation, regulations and law, human resources policy and programs.
- Provide subject matter expertise, advice, and guidance to all levels of management, such as Executive Committee, Board of Directors, on administration of memorandum of agreement, letters of understanding, collective agreement language, grievance handling, disciplinary process, and other labour relations matters.
- Oversee effective administration of collective agreements and managing day-to-day relationships with bargaining agents.
- As a key leadership member of the negotiation team, lead management committees relating to the development/preparation of management’s position on a wide variety of issues before and during contract negotiations.
- Consult and partner with various business areas including Finance and Benefits to design and develop costing models and proposals for collective bargaining related issues. Prepare recommendations for senior management, such as financial and risk analysis, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and outcomes and working with the management team to address collective bargaining issues.
- Plan, direct and control the day-to-day operation and administration of the Employee and Labour Relations branch.
- Lead and develop employee teams; ensuring employees are provided appropriate performance objectives and development programs; providing guidance and ongoing coaching and feedback to direct reports.
- Manage financial resources including developing and forecasting annual operating and capital budgets; monitoring and reporting on variances based on projections; and evaluating overall program expenditures.
- Develop and maintain effective communication linkages with all levels of management both within the People Cluster and business areas as required to identify ongoing and changing needs.
- Ensure the development, implementation and maintenance of branch data collection, performance measures and monthly dashboard to effectively measure deliverables, manage resources, and provide reporting.
- Plan and develop short and long-term branch strategic business plans to support the company and divisional strategic goals and objectives and respond to changing business initiatives or organizational strategies.
- As a member of the management team, collaborate with peers and other leaders to identify, recommend, and develop divisional strategy, goals, and objectives in support of corporate strategies, goals, and objectives.
- Lead and participate on interdepartmental project teams acting as an employee and labour relations subject matter expert. Collaborate with other areas within the People Cluster and throughout the organization to ensure project work is aligned and integrated.

Requirements:
- University degree in labour/ industrial relations – Preferred Master’s degree and CHRP.
- Thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Must have – 8 to 12 years of experience as a Labour Relations professional which includes 5 to 7 years in a leadership role.
- Nice to have – Experience in a unionized environment in the public sector.
- Must be managing a Team of Labour Relations Professionals.
